Welcome to Legal Studies

Welcome to the Legal Studies Department at the University of La Verne. We look forward to learning about you, and assisting you in meeting your academic goals. You are most likely working towards your Bachelor’s degree or getting your paralegal certificate. You may be a traditional undergraduate student or a CAPA student. You might have transferred in or have attended La Verne since you were a freshmen. Our students are quite varied! Whatever path brought you here… we are happy to have you.

If you’re brand new to Legal Studies, you will most likely begin with my class: American Legal Studies. I will also see you again at the end of your career here at La Verne: in Senior Project. I teach some elective courses as well: Wills, Trusts and Probate; and Law in Film and Literature.

Professor Adongo will meet you in Legal Research and Writing, your next step in Legal Studies. She also teaches Litigation I and II, as well as Family Law.

We have two regular adjunct instructors: Cathy Robson and Michael Dowd. Professor Robson teaches our Internship and Ethics course. She’ll be bringing a wealth of paralegal experience to the classroom. Professor Dowd teaches Criminal Law and our two computer courses. Contracts is being taught by Professor Booth this semester, and we’re very happy to have him.

The most important thing to remember about our program is that we are always available to you! We have regular office hours and are very prompt in answering email.

So please, do join us!
